POS Cafe Product Update - August 2026

August delivered two new features and a lot of reliability work, so your tickets arrive once, in the right place, with every detail intact.

Native Product Routing

You can now send selected Shopify products that weren’t added through POS Cafe, such as retail items or a simple muffin, to your existing receipt printers and Fresh KDS prep areas. It works for native Shopify POS and open-tab orders, and Online Store routing has its own separate opt-in. It’s off by default, and your existing POS Cafe product routing doesn’t change. Fast Add (beta)

Fast Add speeds up order entry by adding items to the cart in the background, so staff can move on to the next item sooner. It’s on automatically in both the POS Cafe and POS Cafe - Lite tiles, so there’s nothing to set up.

A more dependable POS Cafe tile

• Modifiers load more reliably, including newly created and unlisted modifiers. If a modifier can’t be used, staff now see why instead of it quietly disappearing.
• Safer required choices. Sold-out options are no longer selected automatically in required modifier groups.
• Fewer double taps. Smoother screen changes and cart updates reduce duplicate taps. If an item may not have been added, staff are prompted to check the cart.
• Consistent item details. Variants, modifiers, notes, order types and prep areas now appear in the same order in the POS Cafe tile and Online Ordering.
• Separate POS Cafe Lite items. Items with different modifier choices stay on separate lines, even when their title and price match.

Online Ordering improvements

• Better theme compatibility with modern Shopify themes, including Horizon.
• Accurate carts. Quantities and totals update immediately, and last-minute changes are saved before checkout.
• Clean new orders. Clearing a cart also clears its notes, table, order type and scheduling details.
• Overnight hours. Opening hours that run past midnight now show the correct pickup times.
• Clearer modifier pricing, with each selected modifier keeping its own price.
• Improved Zapiet scheduling, with the right location and time kept across date formats and daylight saving changes.

Fresh KDS and order tickets

• Accurate pickup times. Fresh KDS now gets a pickup time only for scheduled pickup and delivery orders, not ASAP or dine-in orders.
• Online item notes appear as special instructions in Fresh KDS.
• No duplicate tickets. Improved processing stops the same ticket printing twice when Shopify or a printer retries.
• More reliable printing. Epson and Star print jobs now recover cleanly from brief connection or printer interruptions, without being lost or repeated.
• Better Epson compatibility, so supported printers reliably receive and confirm tickets.
• Open tabs. Successive saves and completed tabs send only new or changed items to prep.
• Complete POS Cafe Lite tickets, with every item and modifier detail included.

In the admin

• Clearer printer feedback. If printer settings save but can’t sync with the print server, the admin now tells you.
• Safer product updates, with better validation and clearer messages when Shopify rejects a change.
