POS Cafe Product Update - May 2026

May’s updates make the POS Cafe tile quicker to use during service, and give you more control over how Order Types work at each location.

A faster, refreshed POS Cafe tile

• Faster add to cart. Adding items is noticeably quicker, especially for repeat items. Adding the same item with the same options now increases the quantity instead of creating a duplicate line.
• Smoother navigation. Moving between collections, products and the customise screen is faster, with less lag in busy periods.
• A cleaner layout. We refreshed the tile’s layout and completely redesigned the mobile view, so POS Cafe is much easier to use on smaller screens.
• Quicker item editing. Opening an item already in the cart to change it now loads much faster. See Editing items in the cart.
• More reliable modifiers. We fixed a rare timing issue where modifiers could fail to load if staff tapped into a product very quickly.
• Clearer discount messages. If a Cafe Discount can’t be applied or removed while editing an item, POS Cafe now tells staff instead of failing silently.

More control over Order Types

• Turn Order Types off for a location. If a location doesn’t use Order Types, switch them all off. Staff won’t see the Order Type selector, and no order type is added to the order.
• Smarter Fresh KDS tickets. Orders that mix item-level order types are now split into separate Fresh KDS tickets, so each item shows under the right order type.
• Clearer settings. Order Type settings now have their own POS Extension section in the admin, with clearer messages when Order Types are turned off.
• A smoother save. The save bar now closes correctly after you save Order Type settings.
