Currently, there is a known issue within Shopify where assigning a specific Product Category to a cafe item can
sometimes interfere with tax calculations in the POS. While we have raised this with Shopify and expect a permanent
fix soon, the good news is that there is a very quick and easy workaround to get your taxes calculating correctly
again!
Step-by-Step Guide to Fixing Tax Issues
Follow these simple steps to remove the product category and restore correct tax calculations:
Part 1: Update the Product in Shopify Admin
Step 1
Log in to your Shopify Admin on your computer or mobile device.
Step 2
Navigate to Products and click on the specific cafe item that is experiencing the tax issue (e.g., Cappuccino).
Step 3
Scroll down to find the Product Category field (Shopify sometimes auto-fills this for you).
Step 4
Delete the existing category so that the field is empty.
Step 5
Click Save to apply your changes. After saving, the field should now read as Uncategorized.
Part 2: Refresh POS Cafe on Your Device
