Shopify POS Receipts
POS Cafe used to provide receipt code that turned a Shopify POS Pro sales or gift receipt into an order ticket grouped by prep area. Shopify has removed the receipt code editor from Shopify POS, so this option is no longer available and the code can’t be installed or edited. This page explains what that means and which POS Cafe printing option to use instead.
What changed
Section titled “What changed”Shopify POS no longer lets merchants customise printed receipts with code. The Edit code option that POS Cafe’s receipt templates relied on is gone, for every Shopify plan, so receipts now print in Shopify’s standard layout. There is nothing to configure in POS Cafe for this: the feature depended entirely on Shopify’s editor.
What to use instead
Section titled “What to use instead”All of POS Cafe’s other printing options route each item by prep area and don’t depend on Shopify’s receipt layout:
| If you want | Use |
|---|---|
| Order tickets for every order at the location, including online, kiosk and open tabs | An Epson or Star receipt printer on POS Cafe’s print server. See Epson Server Direct Print or Star CloudPRNT. |
| A ticket on the printer already connected to a POS device, with no extra hardware | A Shopify POS Printer. It prints the orders taken on that device. |
| A paperless kitchen | Fresh KDS screens. |
Choosing How to Print Order Tickets compares them side by side.
